Stuck savings

This refers to the letter, ‘Frozen in time’ (September 5) by Naeem Sadiq. The writer has rightly projected the miseries of investors in receiving their monthly profit from the National Saving Centres. In this modern age, scientists at Nasa are thinking of sending a submarine into space to land at Saturn’s moon – Titan. But here, in Pakistan, the only adventures hapless investors at the National Saving Centres have to brave through is the torture they face while collecting their monthly profit every month. What a waste of time, fuel and energy.

National Savings hasn’t been able to install software at these centres that could facilitate its ‘valued clients’ take out their profit through their bank accounts or ATMs on the 1st of every month. This facility has been available in almost all commercial banks for so many years. Also, the issue has been highlighted umpteen times in the national newspapers but without any use. National Savings is requested to make arrangements for the online transfer of profit to investors’ accounts as soon as possible.
