Deforestation
By our correspondents
September 08, 2016
We are a third world country plagued by poverty, illiteracy, terrorism and energy crisis. We must add to this list the issue of deforestation. Every year we have to bear the brunt of floods, landslides, human and cattle loss and erosion of land. Having merely 2.5 percent area under forest cover and no stringent measures to fix this situation, deforestation acts as fuel to the fire.
This situation needs the attention of the quarters concerned to not only launch massive tree plantation drive but also create awareness among the people through media campaigns to save our green area by adding one sapling per person as a national obligation. This would result in a clean environment.
