With the technological and scientific advancements of the current world there is a need to share and exchange knowledge and develop networking. Identifying this need, the Faculty of Science and technology of Fatima Jinnah Women University, in collaboration with HEC is organising an international Conference entitled: "Emerging Trends in Science and Technology" (ICETST) from September 5 to 9. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was Minister of state for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr. Tariq Fazal Chahudry.
This conference will chiefly be a platform to provide the emerging academicians, scientists, researchers and students with interdisciplinary interests and knowledge. The conference also aims to build a networking experience to share and expand the scientific knowledge in the emerging fields of science and technology to make a globally connected world. At this international forum participants and researches are from countries like Russia, USA, China, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and Korea as well as from numerous prestigious institutes from all over Pakistan. In the 12th technical sessions, presentations will be from various fields of Environment, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Maths, Electronic Engineering etc.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chahudry said that an integration of the science and technology is indeed a great initiative. He further said, said that being Pakistani, it is our national responsibility to promote quality education and produce competitive science and technology related knowledge to guarantee the development of the country. The government is now committed, not only to improve the literacy rate at lower level, but also aims to encourage quality education at higher level. He also appreciated the role of FJWU in providing the quality education to the women of Pakistan. At the very end he asserted that such efforts must be continued in future and wished luck to the university.
FJWU Vice Chancellor Dr. Samina Amin Qadir Said, we as members of developing world needs to pay paramount significance to science and technology as development at any phase is always linked with technology and technology happens when there is advancement in science. Hence science, technology and development are all proportional to each other. Without having modern equipment’s in all sectors, be it in medicines, infrastructure, social sciences, information technology or any other field, the advancement and benefits that we face today would not have been possible. That’s why FJWU is always emphasized the young women of this nation that time ripe for them to strengthen what they have achieved and to avail of the opportunities that come their way particularly in regards to science and technology. She appreciated the efforts of Dean Faculty of science and technology, Prof. Dr. Uzaira and all the organizing team members on arranging this international conference and assured her full support for future endeavours as well.
The closing ceremony will be held on September 8. FJWU is developing a Centre for Environmentally Sustainable Transport and Climate Change (CESTC) in collaboration with Ministry of Water, Power. There will also be launch of this centre at the closing ceremony as well.
