Anti-polio campaign starts in Lahore
LAHORE
An anti-polio campaign started in Lahore on Monday as part of the Sub-National Immunisation Day. Adviser to Chief Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the campaign will target about 1.7 children of below five years of age in 165 union councils of the city.
According to a handout on Monday, Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Ali Jan Khan said that a total of 4319 teams are performing their duties which include 3825 mobile teams, 167 transit and 327 fixed sites teams, implementing activities in line with National Emergency Plan for Polio Eradication.
“Special efforts are being made to map and register population coming to the city from polio endemic areas,” DG Health Dr. Mukhtar Hussen Syed said.
He said parents may also take their children to vaccination centers where staff is available to vaccinate for nine vaccine preventable diseases as well.
He said in case of teams not visiting the area, parents can contact the helpline 0800 99000 during campaign days.
training: Punjab Resource Management Programme (PRMP) Planning and Development Department in collaboration with Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) organised a four-day training course, started from 29th August to 1st September 2016, on “Public Sector Project Management” at LUMS.
The batch of government officers consisted of 25 regular officers from different departments of Punjab.
Addressing the certificate distribution ceremony, Iftikhar Saleem Bhatti, Deputy Programme Director, Punjab Resource Management Programme (PRMP) said that training course was the series of courses planned and designed for government officers at LUMS. The purpose of training on Project Management was to enhance and build the present capacities of government officers who were working on different posts and projects. The participants had been shortlisted from different departments. He expressed the hope that the officers had learnt new techniques and methods in the field of Project Management which would further help them in their practical field and building the capacity of their staff in relevant departments.
