Two security men killed in Mohmand Agency blasts
GHALLANAI: Two security personnel were killed in separate roadside explosions in the Koz Chamarkand area in Safi Tehsil of Mohmand Agency, official sources said on Sunday.
The sources said that a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) official, identified as Zar Badshah Khattak, was killed while defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) planted at a demolished house in the Koz Chamarkand area.
Following the IED blast, security forces, including Khassadar force, launched a search operation in the area.
According to the political administration, the second IED exploded at Nawa Pas near the Pak-Afghan border in the Chamarkand area during the search operation. As a result, a Khassadar, Havaldar Nabi, sustained injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital. The security forces launched a search operation soon after the incident. However, no suspect has been arrested in this connection so far. In a message sent to the reporters, Jumaat ul Ahrar, a splinter group of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.
SWABI: The police recovered two bombs planted in two pressure cookers from an abandoned house in the Malikabad village here on Sunday.Javed Iqbal, District Police Officer, told the media that they were informed that the militants present in the Malikabad region were planning terrorist activities in the district.
The police, he said, reached the area and during search recovered two bombs that were stuffed in two pressure cookers and hidden in an abandoned house. He added that the bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials defused the bombs, weighing five kilograms each. The bombs were ready for planting, he said, adding that the police have succeeded to prevent a big terror act.
Meanwhile, the police arrested 36 suspects from the region in pre-dawn strike and search operation. They said all the arrested people have been shifted to secret locations where they would go under interrogation and those proved innocent would be set free.
CHRSADDA: The police and security forces on Sunday arrested a student of a seminary in the Tangi tehsil of the district on Sunday, sources said.The sources said the student, Hafizullah, was arrested during a search operation in Miagano Killay early in the day. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for an interrogation. The security forces had also arrested for alleged facilitators of the Christian Colony, Peshawar, attackers during a raid in Shabqadar tehsil a day earlier.
