Governor says PML-N govt committed to promoting education

BISHAM: Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Sunday inaugurated the Shangla Campus of the University of Swat.Speaking at the inaugural ceremony at Alpuri, he said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was committed to promoting higher education.

He said the newly-established Shangla Campus of the University of Swat would play an important role in development of the area. Elders, political leaders, including Advisor to Prime Minister Amir Muqam, Dr Ibadullah and District Nazim Niaz Ahmad Khan were also present on the occasion.

The governor said the Prime Minister Fee Re-imbursement Scheme, Prime Minister Laptop Scheme, Youth Business Loan Scheme, Interest Free Loan Scheme for Students, Skill Development Programme for Youth and the Youth Training were aimed at providing opportunities to youth.

He hoped the campus would rapidly achieve the objective of providing quality education in this remote area of the province. The governor assured every possible support to the institution in its future endeavours. He promised to take necessary steps for evaluating establishment of a cadet college in Shangla district.

Appreciating the presence of a large number of people on the occasion, the governor said, “It reflects their spirit and enthusiasm and keen interest in ensuring better future for their children and the area as well.”

Earlier, the Swat University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jehan Bakht presented a report on newly established campus at Alpuri in Shangla. He highlighted the achievements of the university as well as potentials for future development.
