FAISALABAD: The City Traffic Police Office and all the traffic sectors in Faisalabad have been computerised, said Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Arif Shahbaz Khan Wazir.
Addressing a meeting here on Saturday, he said that the complete record of the vehicle violations would be available at the computerised data. During a recent campaign, the city traffic police challaned 74,605 people for violating traffic rules and collected a fine of Rs 27.5 million from them, he added. He said that clear cut instructions had been issued to the traffic wardens and traffic staff not to spare the habitual traffic violators and their vehicles be impounded if they repeated the traffic violations.
Eight cops booked for torturing two men

FAISALABAD: On the order of Additional Sessions Judge Mirza Shahid Baig, police have registered a case against the Millat Town police station SHO and seven other policemen on the charges of torturing two people.
In a petition, Muhammad Rizwan of Chak 202/RB said that the dacoits robbed him and Muhammad Ramzan of cash and valuables on July 4. He said that he immediately informed police about it. Following the information, some policemen reached there and allegedly tortured them, he added. The complainant said that the accused policemen took them to the police station where they allegedly kept them in illegal confinement. Later, police released them on intervention of the villagers, he added.
MARDAN INCIDENT FLAYED: Five medical bodies, including the Pakistan Medical Association, the Medical Teachers Association, the Young Doctors Association, the Young Nurses Association and the Paramedics Association, have condemned the Mardan incident in which 13 people lost their lives.
Talking to The News here on Saturday, Pakistan Medical Association secretary Dr Muhammad Irfan said that the five associations in their joint meeting, unanimously decided to postpone their strike call for the next 24 hours due to the Mardan incident. He, however, said that in case the doctors’ demand for sacking of the Civil Lines SHO and an initiation of judicial inquiry into the August 17 clash between the Allied Hospital guards and police were not accepted, the doctors and paramedics of the government hospitals would close the outdoor wards. He said that a draft prepared by a six-member inquiry committee was not acceptable to them.
JI RALLY: Workers of the Jamaat-e-Islami took out a rally against MQM leader Altaf Hussain for hate speech here on Saturday.
The protesters led by PP-63 JI ameer Rana Ikramullah and Mian Zaman were chanting slogans against Altaf Hussain. The participants of the rally were also carrying placards and banners. They demanded trial of Altaf Hussain under a military court. They alleged that Altaf Hussain was supporting the nefarious activities of RAW in Karachi and Balochistan.
GIRL COMMITS SUICIDE: A girl committed suicide here.
Humaira of Pindi Bhattian swallowed poisonous pills over a domestic dispute and fell unconscious. She was shifted to the Allied Hospital where she died. The doctors handed over the body of the girl to her parents after completing legal formalities.
BIKER DIES: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident near Dramanwala Chowk on Sheikhupura Road.
Sikandar Hayat was on his way when his motorcycle collided with a camel. As a result, Sikandar was injured seriously. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The camel also expired in the accident.
