WAPDA, Sindh, HEC, Punjab in volleyball semis
KARACHI: Holders WAPDA, Sindh, Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Punjab qualified for the semi-finals of the 12th National Women Volleyball Championship here at the KPT Sports Complex on Friday.
In the pre-finals on Saturday (today) WAPDA face Punjab at 3pm and HEC meet Sindh at 4pm.
Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Mohammad Bux Mahar has consented to be the chief guest at the final, organisers said.
On Friday WAPDA defeated both Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with identical margin of 2-0.
Army once again failed to live up to the expectations. After tasting a defeat at the hands of Punjab on the opening day on Thursday, they were downed by HEC 2-0 with the set scores of 25-18, 26-24.
Army registered a consolation win in their Group B when they overcame Balochistan 2-0 with the set scores of 25-13, 25-11.
Sindh recorded their second victory in their Group A when they breezed past Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2-0 with the set scores of 25-12, 25-11. Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput also witnessed the competitions.
