Mardan attack: lawyers to boycott courts today
Karachi
The legal fraternity will observe a day of mourning and boycott of legal proceedings across the province on Saturday (today) to protest the attack near the entrance of Mardan's district and sessions court, according to a statement issued by the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) on Friday.
Condemning the suicide attack that has so far claimed 13 lives, Pakistan Bar Council member Rasheed A Razvi, SBC Vice Chairman Salahuddin Ahmed and other lawyers maintained that the judiciary and the legal fraternity was once again attacked by the terrorists and the government had yet again failed to protect the lives of the citizen.
“The loss of the precious lives is the loss of the entire legal community,” the joint statement added.
IGP security orders
Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) A D Khowaja has ordered for enhancing the security across the province after the blast in Mardan.
He has directed the officials concerned to beef up security at public places, sensitive installations, important government constructions, airports, railway stations, bus terminals, shopping centres, mosques, imambargahs, shrines and other religious places, according to a statement issued on Friday.
