JICA to provide funds for colleges

LAHORE

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide an assistance of 614 million Yen and grant-in-aid to Tevta during 2016 to 2019 for development of Government College of Technology Faisalabad as centre of excellence and upgrade of 13 other government colleges of technology across Punjab.  

Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said this while addressing a seminar “JICA Support to Promote Technical Education and Vocational Training System in Punjab” at a local hotel here on Sunday.

He said JICA had already provided 860 million Yen for machinery and equipment for the centres of excellence of mechanical and architecture departments at Government College of Technology, Railway Road, Lahore.  

Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, JICA Chief Tojo Yasuhiro, JICA Project Chief Noboru Kabisu, JICA experts Masami Tsuyuki, Yoichi Tsuchiya and Kuniaki Kowatari were also present.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said 46 master trainers had already been given training in different sectors of mechanical technology, including CNC machine, Tig Mig welding, Cad Kam designing and industrial planning and products. He said that cooperation of JICA would be helpful in export of trained manpower in the field of mechanical technology.
