ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi Thursday called on President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk and held a detailed exchange on various issues of bilateral interest.
Tariq Fatemi who is currently on an official visit to the Belarus especially discussed the forthcoming visit of President Lukashenko to Pakistan, said a press release received here.
During their meeting Fatemi conveyed the greetings and personal regards of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the president. He thanked the president for warm welcome accorded to him and for the comprehensive talks that he had held with the Belarus Foreign Minister a day earlier.
In his remarks to the media prior to the meeting President Lukashenko spoke of his great satisfaction over successful establishment of close and meaningful ties between Belarus and Pakistan in the short period of two years. He stressed that Belarus viewed Pakistan as a sincere friend because of which the two countries had been able to establish a relationship of trust and confidence.
Cooperation between them was also deepening in all sectors and its benefits would soon be felt by the peoples of the two countries, he added.The president also reiterated that Belarus Pakistan relations were now an important factor in promoting peace and stability in the region.
