The Kalabagh Dam is a well-thought-out and engineered hydropower project beneficial to all of Pakistan. Mega storage dams are extremely precious to save our future generations from starvation. The Diamer-Bhasha Dam is nowhere in sight due to the World Bank’s reservations over its location. So the only viable alternate option is the Kalabagh Dam. It is also preferential to DBD in terms of its lesser cost, location, accessibility, area, control of floods etc. There is absolutely no truth in Nowshera in danger of being drowned by KBD.
Better sense and understanding are needed among all stakeholders to earnestly discuss and resolve their concerns and reservations.
