52,000 health workers regularised

LAHORE

On the orders of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government has regularised approximately 52,000 workers of National Programme for Family Planning (Lady Health Workers Programme), including LHWs, LHSs, accounts supervisors, drivers, etc.

Regularisation orders have been issued which would be implemented from July 2012 and Punjab Civil Servants Act 1974 will be applicable to them.

Adviser to Chief Minister, on Health Kh Salman Rafique distributed regularisation orders among the office-bearers of Lady Health Workers Association Punjab, including its President Rukhsana Anwer on Thursday, according to a handout issued here.

Primary and Secondary Health Punjab Secretary Ali Jan Khan, DG Health Dr Mukhtar Husain Syed, Additional DG Health IRMNCH programme Dr Nusrat Jabeen, Additional Secretary Health Adnan Zafar and other officers were present.

Appreciating the services of Lady Health Workers, Kh Salman Rafique said lady health workers were playing pivotal role in spreading health education in the community and promoting prevention programme. He said that Lady Health Workers were a big source for the promotion of mother and child health programme.

Kh Salman Rafique expressed hope that after getting orders of regularisation, LHWs would perform their duties with more dedication and devotion for creating a healthy society.

Secretary P&SH Ali Jan Khan said their terms and conditions of services shall be regulated as per provision of the Punjab Civil Servants Act 1974.

He informed that regularisation orders would be issued to the individual employees in accordance with the Act by the respective appointing authorities.
