Father turns out to be killer of ‘missing’ son

Shalimar police claimed that they have solved a case of 'missing' child who was killed by his father and later dumped into a canal.

Police have arrested the suspect who has confessed to his crime. A police spokesperson said that Ahmad Asadullah registered a case at Shalimar police station on August 17 that his five-year-old son Muhammad Ahmad had gone missing. He said that he feared that his son might have been kidnapped by some kidnapper gang. In his complaint to police, he said that he had left his son in a parking stand while going to buy some food items from a market at Baghbanpura. 

When he came back, his son was missing. He searched for the boy in the adjoining areas but could not spot him. Police registered a kidnapping case against unidentified suspects and started investigations. On August 22, the body of an unidentified child was found in BRB Canal in the Mustafabad area of Kasur district. Kasur police contacted Shalimar police. Shalimar Police took the grandfather of the missing boy with them and reached the District Headquarters Hospital where he identified the boy.  CCPO Amin Wains took notice of the incident and directed Civil Lines SP Ali Raza to investigate the matter himself. During the investigations, police found a lead that the complainant, Asadullah, had not visited Baghbanpura market and he lied to police, on which, police took him into their custody on suspicion. 

Asadullah, during interrogations, confessed to police that his second wife Uzma Parveen, father-in-law Chand Khan and Akmal wanted to kill the boy and planned to kill him.

He said he took his son on a motorcycle to BRB Canal Bridge near Nathoki Village and threw him into the canal and fled from the scene. Afterwards, he went to police and registered a case. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigations Sultan Chaudhry announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the investigation team.

‘Technology-equipped police’: To make the province crime-free, service oriented police equipped with latest technology is the need of present situation and by utilising information technology HRMIS Punjab Police has been computerised and all transfers/postings besides payment of salaries are being made through this system.

With the commencement of this system, Punjab police has saved 8 billion rupees. This was stated by Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while addressing TV anchors during a meeting held at Central Police Office. 

The IGP said according to international standards, London is spending 750 dollars, Turkey 135, East Punjab 16 and Punjab is spending only 7 dollar per-capita on security expenditures. He said in present situation the volume of FIRs per police stations has been raised from 50 to 2,000 and despite of financial limitations Punjab police is discharging its duties diligently and efficiently. 

Mushtaq Sukhera said for the improvement of investigation system and to make it more effective, Punjab police is moving towards specialisation and the establishment of Homicide Units by utilising the latest technical kits for collection of accurate evidence made the investigation more advance and authentic. He said due to the excellent performance of investigation officers of these Homicide Units the heinous crime like murder has been reduced by 6pc. 

ACCIDENTS: At least 511 accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which two lives were lost and 409 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts.
