Ulema’s role vital for peace: President

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said the government was making efforts to maintain environment of fraternity and peace among followers of all sects in the country. He however emphasized that the role of Ulema and religious scholars was very crucial in this respect.

The President expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat which headed by Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin called on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.He stressed that virtues of tolerance and mutual respect among different schools of thought would ensure peace and prosperity in the country. For that all schools of thought should collectively strive for the promotion of religious harmony, he added. He appreciated the participation and contribution of Bohra community in boosting trade activities in the country.

The President commended the services of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat in the fields of education, health and undertaking social welfare work for the betterment of people of the country.The President while talking to Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin said due to sound policies of the present government the country had economically progressed which had also been acknowledged by international financial institutions (IFIs). He said China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a flagship project which upon completion would usher in unprecedented prosperity not only in Pakistan but also in the whole region.Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin noted with appreciation that Pakistan had progressed and said he held Pakistan and its people very close to his heart.
