Schools for girls

With the aim of providing quality education to each and every doorstep, the announcement by the Punjab government to set up high schools for girls in each union council in the province, particularly in southern Punjab, is welcome. Besides, the government has planned to construct 35,000 new class rooms in all 36 districts of the province.
However, more needs to be done as in addition to classrooms, libraries and facilities for extra-curricular activities should also be provided to students in order to promote healthy activities. It is hoped that the move will help increase the enrolment target and result in better education facilities to students in the province.
