Says his govt will correct past wrongs

NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said masses continue to put trust in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Imsaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government which has unnerved the opponents.

He said this while speaking at a public meeting in Pir Sabaq area of the Nowshera district on Sunday. The chief minister said that successive governments in the past ignored the area in the development process.

“The PTI government realised this injustice. We will put an end to these wrongs during our two years tenure. We will introduce an era of development and prosperity in PK-16,” he said amidst cheers from the crowd.

Recalling the initial difficulties the PTI-led government had to face, Pervez Khattak said institutions were in poor form due to corruption and kickback mafia. “We launched sincere efforts to clean institutions and bring about a transparent system to ensure health and educational facilities to the masses,” he elaborated.

The chief minister said KP had good governance which was scaring the opposition parties. “Our opponents have no plan to offer for the welfare of the people. That is why they have embarked on propaganda to malign us,” he went on to say.

Pervez Khattak was critical of the Pakistan People’s Party, Awami National Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. He accused these parties’ leaders of looting the exchequer and fooling the masses with hollow slogans. He believed that the leadership of these parties started making hue and cry whenever a demand was raised to make them accountable.

The chief minister hoped the people would make the corrupt politicians accountable in the 2018 general elections and eliminate them from power politics. He was all praise for PTI chief Imran Khan and said he was the only political leader who offered himself for accountability. “Imran Khan will recover the looted public wealth and spend it for the betterment of the poor masses,” he announced to the gathering.

Pervez Khattak said that a large number of people attended the Ehtesab rallies taken out by the PTI. “The masses have given their verdict in favour of the PTI. They will no more tolerate those who looted the public money and shifted the this wealth abroad,” he added.

The chief minister talked high of his government performance. “I will not say that corruption has been stamped out altogether but there has been a considerable decrease in it,” he said with conviction.

Talking of the PTI government plans to cope with the energy crisis, he said he had announced to set up 350 power stations to generate electricity. “Of these 100 hydropower stations have been made functional which are generating 35 megawatt electricity. The rest of 250 projects would be completed by the end of December, this year,” he promised.

Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamshedudin Kakakhel, Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak, Distric Nazim Liaqat Khan Khattak , Tehsil Nazim Razaullah Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
