PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has revealed that the government was considering granting autonomy to all postgraduate and degree colleges in the Province on the lines they granted to the hospitals.
While talking to a delegation of Post Graduate College, Kohat at Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad on Sunday, he called upon the academics to ponder over the issue and if feasible, the PTI government will legislate for the purpose so that service delivery and performance of the colleges is improved and the concerned management boards enabled make immediate decision in accordance with their specific objective conditions.
If granted, the Chief Minister said that each college will be managed by an independent board to made recruitments, assign duties and selected courses of studies for it. The Government will have nothing to do with it, he added.
Besides others, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, MNA Shehreyar Afridi, and Secretary C&W were also present on the occasion.
The members of the delegation apprised the Chief Minister of the problems of the college which were patiently listened to by him.
In response to their demands the Chief Minister assured that the administration block will be constructed in accordance with their proposal while their problem of transport will also be solved on urgent basis.
In respect of affiliation of the college with university for different BS courses, the Chief Minister assured that even if required he will take it up with the Chairman HEC.
Talking to a delegation of business community from Kohat, the Chief Minister assured that the issue of fruit and vegetable market will be resolved soon.
Meanwhile another delegation of Chinese Xian Senshe Electronic Technology Corporation also called on the Chief Minister at Pakhtunkhwa House and discussed with him investment environment in the province.
The chief minister assured that in the larger interest of the people of the Province every possible effort will be made to facilitate such investors under a policy.
