KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been informed that the tax departments were delaying the issuance of exemption certificates for tax year 2017, which caused difficulties in clearance of import consignments and other inland tax matters. In a letter sent to Member Inland Revenue (Policy) on Wednesday, Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) reiterated the demand for early issuance of exemption certificates to genuine taxpayers.
The tax bar said that previously the tax departments were making excuses due to changes in jurisdiction orders. “The changes in jurisdiction took place on July 31 yet the departments are not issuing certificates or delaying exemption certificates for no reason,” Syed Rehan Jafri, President, KTBA said.
