PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, asking the federal government to bring him to the country through Interpol and register a treason case against him.
The joint resolution signed by the treasury and opposition members and presented by PTI MPA Shaukat Yousafzai criticised Altaf Hussain, saying he had committed treason by passing derogatory remarks against the state and its security institutions and inviting India to attack Pakistan and asking the United Nations to take control of Karachi.
The resolution read that Altaf Hussain had also tried to instigate his workers to mutiny against the state. It asked the federal government to ensure bringing the MQM head to Pakistan through the Interpol and initiate a treason case against him.
The three parties ruling the province and all those in the opposition backed the resolution. The resolution was also signed by Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani, Finance Minister Muzaffar Said, Minister for Public Health Engineering Shah Farman, Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Munawwar Khan of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Syed Jaffar Shah of Awami National Party (ANP) and Arbab Akbar Hayat and Sheraz Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP).
The resolution was passed unanimously when the speaker suspended the Rule 124 for presenting the resolution.APP adds from Mirpur (AJK): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, on Tuesday sacked two Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) ministers Tahir Khokhar and Muhammad Salim Butt from the cabinet with an immediate effect, it was officially declared.
Both of the ministers were sacked for categorically defying the orders of the AJK prime minister to decide in 72 hours their dissociation from the MQM supremo Altaf Hussain for his repeated anti-state speeches, fanning hatred against Pakistan and the defence forces of the country.
The AJK PM has formally approved orders of the removal of both of the MQM ministers from his cabinet, says an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat of the AJK government in Muzaffarabad. He accorded approval by using his powers under sub section 3 of the Section 14 of the Act 1974 the Interim Constitution of the AJK.
