On the directives of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif the local stalwarts of PML-N Rawalpindi have decided to celebrate the Independence Day of Pakistan in a befitting manner in the city.

The announcement was made by former MNA Mohammad Hanif Abbasi while addressing the press conference at Rawalpindi Press Club here Monday.

He was accompanied by former MNAs Malik Shakil Awan, Raja Pervaiz, President of Metropolitan and former MPA Sardar Nasim, Ziaullah Shah, Sheikh Arslan, Rahat Qudusi and PML-N Rawalpindi information secretary Akmal Mirza.

Hanif Abbasi said that the celebrations of independence day would be held at union council levels from this day and would continue till August 14. He directed the chairmen of the respective union councils to arrange special functions in connections with Independence Day of Pakistan.

The major event of the celebrations would be a public meeting on August 13 which would be held at Iqbal Road where the entire high command of Rawalpindi, leaders, activists and party workers would gather to make the event successful. The leaders would dilate upon topics like Independence of Pakistan besides speaking on political matters.

Hanif Abbasi said that a meeting would be convened today (Tuesday) under his chairmanship to finalise the arrangements and formation of committees at union levels.

Besides Hanif Abbasi all the high command of PML-N expressed great anguish and anger over the language being used by Sheikh Rashid in electronic media against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Sheikh Arslan and Akmal Mirza expressed concern over the attitude of Sheikh Rashid, abusing Nawaz Sharif immorally and against the ethics. If Sheikh sahib does not mend his ways then we would also adopt same language against him in the public meeting of August 13, they said.
