CTD arrests defunct LeJ man

GUJRANWALA: The Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested an activist of the defunct Lashkar-e-Jhangvi for uploading hate material on his Facebook page.
Reportedly, accused Rana Aftab Ahmad of Narowal uploaded some hate material and pictures on Facebook. The CTD team arrested the accused and seized his computer. A case has been registered.
SECRETARY VISITS HOSPITAL: Punjab Health Secretary Syed Najam Ahmad Shah paid a surprise visit to the DHQ Hospital.
He inspected various wards of the hospital and asked the patients about provision of medicines and other services by the hospital. Najam Shah also checked the stock of medicines and directed the staff to ensure supply of free medicines to the patients.
Meanwhile, talking to the hospital doctors and other staffers, the health secretary said that the government had earmarked funds for purchase of medicines. He also expressed displeasure over some mismanagement and directed the MS and doctors to improve efficiency.
DEMO AGAINST WASA: Residents of People’s Colony staged a demonstration against Wasa for not draining out rainwater from streets and roads.
The protesters blocked a road and chanted slogans against the Wasa officers. The protesters alleged that they had made several requests to the Wasa officers but to no avail. They have demanded the commissioner and the DCO direct the Wasa officers to drain out rainwater.
TWO HELD: Traffic police have arrested two suspects on Ferozewala Road here.
Shahzeb and Ali Raza wearing wimple were trying to get lift from cars when traffic wardens seeing their suspicious movement arrested them. Later, they were handed over to police, who started investigation.
WARDEN, LAWYER SCUFFLE: A traffic warden and a lawyer beat one another over a minor issue on Sialkot Road here.
Traffic warden Muhammad Rashid stopped a car and asked car rider Zulfiqar Goraya to show his driving license and vehicle documents. The owner reportedly introduced himself as a member of the district bar association and did not show the documents. It led to an exchange of hot words between them. They also beat each other. Later, Zulfiqar Goraya and Rashid gave applications against each other in Civil Lines police station.
