How to help Kashmir

This refers to the article, ‘How to help embattled Kashmir’ (July 29) by Ayaz Amir. It is true that our successive governments have created a mess on the Kashmir issue by neglecting the aspirations of the Kashmiris who are laying down their lives on a daily basis. We have always displayed a non-serious attitude towards the Kashmir cause by appointing irrelevant persons to head the Kashmir committee.

The suggestion to go by the will of the Kashmiris must be highlighted at all international fora. It may not be possible at this stage to change the present status of Azad Kashmir but we can give our firm assurance to the world and to the Kashmiris that Pakistan shall respect the decision they take.
