Zardari birthday celebrated

LAHORE

The 61st birthday of former president of Pakistan and PPP president Asif Ali Zardari was celebrated outside Data Darbar by distributing ‘langar’ amongst the poor.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, a large number of pigeons were freed by the PPP workers in the name of democracy in Pakistan.

Special prayers were offered for long life of Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Rasm-e-Chadder Poshi was performed by Faisal Mir, Abdul Qadir Shaheen and Dr Zarrar Yusaf.

At the start of the ceremony, police tried to stop the event but after seeing angry reaction of Jiyalas, it decided to stay away from the venue.

A stage was set up in front of four 24-feet tall portraits of Asif Ali Zardari with different writings saying "Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela of Pakistan";"Happy Birthday Saviour of Democracy"; "Happy Birthday Soldier of Bhutto";"Happy Birthday Guardian of PPP".;"Daikh Daikho Kon Aya-Sheron Ka Shikari Aya".

A large number of PPP workers gathered on this occasion raised slogans "Worker say Yari-Zardari";"Shairon Ka Shikari-Zardari"; "Agli Bari-Phir Zardari";"Mard e Hur-Zardari;"Wazir e Azam-Bilawal";Kal Bhi Bhutto Zinda Tha Aj Bhi Bhutto Zinda Hay";"Charon Soobon ki Zangeer-Benazir Benazir"

‘Langar’ was distributed among people whereas 30 pigeons were freed in the name of democracy in Pakistan by Ashraf Khan, Malik Allah Yar, Shahzad Shafi and Imran Dogar.

Addressing the gathering, Lahore PPP ex-information secretary Faisal Mir said due to his unmatched sacrifices for Pakistan Peoples Party and democracy, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto used to call Asif Ali Zardari as "Nelson Mandela of Pakistan".

“During imprisonment, offers were made to Asif Ali Zardari by Nawaz Sharif and dictator Pervez Musharraf that he could be a free man if he signed any documents against SMBB. To get any such statement even his tongue was also sliced in jail during Nawaz Sharif government.

After assassination of SMBB, it was Asif Ali Zardari who stood in front of all the conspiracies hatched to finish PPP,” he said and added it is written on the wall that under the guidance of Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be the next prime minister of Pakistan.

Ex-in charge People Labour Bureau Abdul Qadir Shaheen said it was due to the sharp vision of Asif Ali Zardari that he managed to become first democratically elected president of Pakistan who completed his term in the office and handed over presidency to next democratic government.

Dr Zarrar Yusaf said Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan should remember that today they are enjoying power in centre and provinces just because it was Asif Ali Zardari who got rid of general Pervaiz Musharraf and a democratic system is continuing without a military general. Aqib Sarwar said d Asif Ali Zardari is the biggest politician in Pakistan.
