LAHORE
A massive crackdown will be started across Punjab against wheelie.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at Central Police Office on Tuesday. Additional IGPs, Punjab traffic DIG, Lahore investigation DIG, Operations DIG, Lahore CTO and other senior officers were present while all RPOs and CTOs attended the meeting through video link. It was decided that acts of wheelie would not be allowed on Independence Day, and the motorcycles of all under-age drivers found guilty of doing wheelie would be impounded and only be released after getting written sureties from their parents. The IGP also asked the field officers to demand additional force for establishing special squads for this purpose. Moreover, he also directed that all CTOs and DPOs would remain directly in contact with the traffic officers for effective coordination. The IGP directed that the field officers should also remain in contact with the transporter owners so that the grievances of the citizens and the transporter owners against traffic police could be redressed.
