Fat tax
This refers to the article ‘Fat tax’ (July 17) by Farrukh Saleem. Obesity is most common in the US. A platter in an American restaurant which is meant for one person is more than enough for two. At least half of the food in that country ends up in the trash. The Americans need a food-reformer to teach them the right habits in food matters. The poor in the US have the worst weight problems; they eat junk food which is cheap.
In Pakistan well-fed fat and juicy men rule the country and set a poor example for the common people to follow. Their favourite food is fatty food. And all this is displayed on TV to make the poor feel more miserable. Let us promote a culture of slim and smart people who dress simply, eat sparingly and exercise regularly. As a start let’s ban junk food and soft drinks in schools.
