Court moved against Modi
LAHORE: A local lawyer has moved a writ petition in the Lahore High Court seeking registration of a case under anti-terrorism law against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over charges of committing genocide in the occupied Kashmir.
Petitioner-lawyer Rana Abdul Hameed stated that Indian forces had shot dead 45 innocent Kashmiris since 9th of July. Thousands of people came out of their houses to protest and mourn the death of pro-independence leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani, a popular young commander of Kashmir’s largest militant group, the Hizbul Mujahideen, who was fighting for independence of Kashmir. He was killed in a shootout with Indian forces in a village southeast of Srinagar.
He stated in the last few days’ Indian forces injured and killed many Kashmiris. A major grievance of those protesting in Kashmir was the failure of authorities to respect the basic human rights. He stated that Modi being head of the government was responsible for these killings and torture of people of Indian-held Kashmir. He requested to issue directions against the Indian premier on murder, attempt to murder, abetment under the Pakistan Penal Code and Anti-Terrorism Act.
