Nouman to face Hassan in under-17 final

 KARACHI: Nouman Aftab and Hassan Farooq reached the final of under-17 singles category in the 1st EbrahimMerchantMemorial ranking Tennis Championship at Karachi Club here on Thursday. In the semi-finals, Nouman beat Talha Sohail 6-1, 6-1 and Hassan defeated Fahad Haider 7- 5, 6-1. The final will be played on Saturday (tomorrow). In men’s singles quarter-finals, Aqeel Khan beat Fahad Khan 6-2, 6-1; Parbat Kumar beat Sherbaz Malik 7-6, 7-6; Talha Zubair beat Hassan Farooq 6-1, 6-4; and IbrahimIltifat beat Asad Khan 4-6, 6-1 (retired). In the quarter-finals of under- 15 category, Nouman Aftab beat Qamber Hasnain 6-2, 6-2; Mujahidullah Khattak beat Ashish Kumar 6-4, 6-2; Zubair Raja beat M Dada 6-1, 6-1; and Amin Shafi beat Farzan Ahmed 6-2, 6-2. In the quarter-finals of under- 13 category, Abdullah Khan beat Rayyan Sohail 7-5, 4-6, 10-7; Ibrahim Khan beat Asher Mir 6- 2, 7-5; and Farzan Ahmed beat Farooq Atique 6-1, 6-0. In under-11 quarter-finals, Asher Mir beat Ahmed Bin Shahid 8-0; Hamad Khan beat Zain Ehtasham 9-7; and Zain M Ali beat EbrahimNoman 8-3. Abdullah Imran got walkover against Basim Ali. In the under-9 quarter-finals, ZainMAli beat Esmaal Khan 8-0; Hassan Jamal beat Nouman Vaqas 4-0 (rtd); Abdullah Imran beat Rayyan Vaqas 8-0; and Zain Ehtasham beat Basim Ali 8-2. The pair of HassanMehmood and Fahad Khan defeated the duo of Saqib Hussain and Farhan Altaf 7-6, 6-4 in the quarter-finals, while the pair of Dawar Rehan and Ibrahim Iltifat beat the duo of Ahmed Ehtasham and Amin Shafi 7-6, 6-4.
