40 hospitals to be upgraded, says Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that provision of modern and quality medical facilities to  patients was his mission.

According to a handout, he said that there is no shortage of resources for providing quality health facilities to patients. He stressed upon the need of joint work with commitment, hard work and the spirit of service to the ailing humanity. Provision of quality treatment facilities to patients will be ensured in Tehsil and District Headquarter Hospitals and shortage of expert doctors of different sections in hospitals will be met on priority basis, he added. He said that a new foolproof plan of procurement and provision of free medicines in the hospitals has been evolved.

A decision has been taken to give financial and administrative autonomy to medical superintendents of hospitals for providing quality medical facilities, he added. He said that he is visiting hospitals for ensuring provision of treatment facilities to patients in hospitals. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting, which lasted three hours, to review the Punjab Health Reforms Programme here on Thursday. He said that 25 DHQs and 15 THQs will be upgraded within a year.
