Pak hockey players shine in BD league

KARACHI: Around 25 Pakistani hockey players appeared for different teams in this year’s Bangladesh hockey League and played outstandingly, reports received here said.
The winners Mariner Young included three Pakistanis, including Olympian Waqas Sharif, who was the top scorer for his side with 17 goals.
The runners-up Usha had as many as five Pakistanis in their ranks, including the current Pakistan captain M Irfan Senior and two former Pakistan captains, Shakeel Abbasi and Shafqat Rasool. Players from Germany, India and Malaysia were also playing for different clubs.
