LAHORE: Pakistan and UAE-based logistics giant DP World have announced plans to establish ‘Pakistan Mart’, a dedicated commercial hub near Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE to display Made-in-Pakistan products to regional and global buyers.
The initiative was presented to Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan by a delegation from National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and DP World, led by NLC Director-General Maj Gen Farrukh Shehzad.
DP World will build the facility at no cost to Pakistani stakeholders. The mart will house warehouses, showrooms, retail units, and e-commerce fulfilment centres to support exporters and traders.
Khan called the project “transformational”, urging support for high-potential sectors such as textiles, food, surgical goods and sportswear, and stressed the need to integrate e-commerce solutions.
The ministry has directed the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to coordinate closely with the project team. The mart is seen as a major step in Pakistan’s efforts to diversify exports and strengthen its trade presence in the Gulf.
During a presentation at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), the DG of the NLC said that the Pakistan Mart project is a transformative initiative aimed at creating a modern and comprehensive platform to connect Pakistani products with international markets.
LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry, CEO of DP World Dubai Abdullah Hashmi, Vice Chairperson of DP World Fakhare Alam, and Executive Committee Members Karamat Ali Awan and Imran Saleemi also addressed the event.
Shehzad said that Pakistan Mart would be a game-changer by boosting exports, facilitating direct access to international markets, and enhancing the global recognition of the ‘Made in Pakistan’ brand.
He added that the state-of-the-art facility will be located in the heart of Dubai’s commercial hub, offering easy access to key regions including the Middle East, Africa, South America and beyond. The platform will enable exporters to connect directly with international buyers, thereby eliminating middlemen.
