Govt tackles price-hike in Ramazan: minister

FAISALABAD: Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu has claimed that the government has tackled the challenge of price hike during Ramazan by successfully holding Ramazan bazaars across the province.
He said this while visiting Ramazan bazaars at Jinnah Colony, Sir Syed town, Iron Market and other areas of the city on Sunday. He checked quality, quantity and prices of vegetables, fruits, pulses and other items. He expressed satisfaction over quality of items and said that the Punjab government had ensured supply of quality commodities in Ramazan bazaars on cheaper rates. He claimed that the Ramazan package was being implemented in a transparent manner for providing relief to the people. He took notice of long queues of women at sugar stalls and directed the duty officers for setting up additional counters to avoid rush of consumers. He went to the complaint centre of Ramazan bazaars and checked complaint registers. Later, talking to newsmen, Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that the Punjab government would follow a comprehensive strategy to control the prices of essential commodities throughout the year. He said that the media guided the government on the issue of price hike.
