Suffering for what?

When economies develop, the people thrive. And thrive they must because they bear the brunt of hard decisions governments make to improve the economic conditions of the country. However, if the people continue to suffer despite the government's rhetoric of economic stability, there is something amiss. The recent hike in petrol prices exposes the hollow claims of economic stability that every government minister makes.
Unfortunately, the ruling class has turned into a parasite living on poor people's blood and sweat. The high officials disregard the fact that a rise in petrol prices affects every other commodity of daily use - transport, medicine, education etc.
