Widow says accused opened fire inside house to intimidate her, snatched her mobile phone and cash before she was abducted

NOWSHERA: A widow from Pabbi tehsil in Nowshera district has appealed to police to provide her protection after her brother-in-law allegedly abducted her and is now threatening her with dire consequences.

Speaking at a press conference at the Nowshera Press Club, Asma, daughter of Jamal Shah and widow of Suleman, said that her brother-in-law, Shahsawar, along with armed accomplices, forcibly entered her house after scaling the wall when she was alone.

She said that the accused opened fire inside the house to intimidate her, snatched her mobile phone and cash before she was abducted.

Asma said she was initially taken to Mardan and later moved to Dir district as the suspect feared arrest by police .The widow said that he tried to force her into recording a false statement that she had come with him willingly because her father mistreated her.

However, she said she refused to give a fake statement as she was a respectable woman.She said the police later managed to rescue her and arrested Shahsawar. However, according to her, he continued to issue threats from jail, allegedly seeking to marry her against her will in order to claim her late husband’s property.

The woman appealed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police, Regional Police Officer, Mardan , the district police officer of Nowshera and relevant government authorities to ensure her safety and provide her justice.
