Governor for UN role in reducing Iran, Israel tension
LAHORE:Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider said that the longer the Iran-Israel conflict persists, the greater the devastation will be.
It's imperative for the global community, particularly the UN and Security Council, to facilitate dialogue and reduce tensions between the two sides. He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the High Court Reporters Association at Governor’s House here. President People’s Lawyers Forum, Lahore Division Mian Shahid Abbas was also present on this occasion. Governor said that the legal community plays a key role in upholding democracy and ensuring justice in the country. He said that the affairs of the judiciary have improved with the 26th Constitutional Amendment, but there is always room for improvement. He said that if further Constitutional amendments are needed in the interest of the country and the nation, then they should also be made. He said that no society can survive without justice. He appreciated the role of court reporters and emphasised that it is their responsibility to help the poor who approach the courts for getting justice in time. Governor said that the PPP believes in democracy and wants to see it flourish. He said that all political parties are on the same page for the betterment of the country. He said that the alliance with the PMLN was for the country; otherwise, there was a fear of political instability in the country. He said that the affairs of the country have improved a lot with the coalition government and it is hoped that it will improve further in the future.
PSCA cops honoured
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) Wednesday hosted a prestigious award ceremony at its headquarters to honour officers who demonstrated exceptional performance during last six months.
The event was graced by PSCA Managing Director Muhammad Ahsan Younas and Chief Operating Officer Mustansar Feroze. Some 263 cops were awarded with certificates and cash prizes. Officers from Virtual Women Police Station, Child Safety Centre, Virtual Blood Bank, Media Centre, Emergency 15 Helpline, Operations Monitoring Centre, Electronic Data Analysis Centre, Dispatch and Control Centre, and E-Challan Centre were among those honoured for their dedicated services. Addressing the ceremony, the MD said these certificates and rewards are acknowledgement of performance of the cops. Mustansar said the rewards are to foster a positive and healthy competitive environment.
