A two-member bench comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam heard the case.Daniyal Asad Chamkani Advocate, appeared before the court on behalf of the complainant.
According to the prosecution, the accused, Adil Zaman, was alleged to have killed one Payo Rahman on March 12, 2024 over a dispute concerning some property.A case was registered against him, but he fled the country.
The accused was arrested upon his return to Pakistan on March 25, 2025.During the hearing, the accused’s counsel argued that his client’s name was not Adil Zaman, but Adil Rahman, and therefore, he should be granted bail.
However, the complainant’s counsel contended that the trial had already commenced, and at this stage, bail could not be granted. He added that the issue of the accused’s name could be addressed during the trial proceedings in the relevant court.
After hearing the arguments, the court observed that since the trial was underway in the lower court, bail cannot be granted at this point. The bench further noted that the accused had remained a fugitive for a considerable time. It noted that such matters fell under the jurisdiction of the trial court, therefore, bail could not be granted, dismissing the bail application.
