JI urges govt to adopt decisive policy on Palestine, Iran-Israel war
LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has urged the government to adopt a clear, courageous, and decisive policy not only on Palestine but also on the ongoing situation involving Iran.
Addressing the concluding session of the JI three-day Central Majlis-e-Shura meeting at Mansoora, he stressed that the case of Kashmir must be pursued with full national resolve. Rehman also called for immediate economic relief for the masses through reductions in essential commodities, electricity, and fuel prices. Emphasising the need for the government to restore peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, he called for emergency measures to stabilise these regions and urged Islamabad and Kabul to improve bilateral ties and initiate meaningful dialogue for regional peace. “Afghan soil must never be allowed to be used against Pakistan under any circumstances,” he said.
Rehman further urged the government to heal the wounds of the Baloch people by addressing long-standing grievances and resolving the issue of missing persons. On the Palestinian issue, he said the rulers must truly reflect the sentiments of the Pakistani people. “If Israel is not restrained, the entire region could be engulfed in flames,” he warned. The government, he said, must not cower before the United States and nor should it treat Trump like a god of the earth. He lauded Hamas for its steadfast resistance and prayed for the success of the Palestinian fighters.
Speaking on Kashmir, he said, “The people of Kashmir are fighting the final battle for the completion of Pakistan.” He urged the government to expose to the international community the grave human rights violations and atrocities being committed by the Hindutva-driven Modi regime in occupied Kashmir.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also reminded that Jamaat-e-Islami had put aside political differences and fully supported the government during times of conflict with India. However, he stated that Jamaat cannot remain silent on the establishment’s interference in political and institutional matters. “All institutions must operate within their constitutional limits, which is in their own interest,” he added.
Criticising the recently announced budget, he said it overwhelmingly favored the elite, offering no relief to salaried workers, farmers, laborers, or the common citizen. He reiterated Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to intensify its struggle for public rights. “This is a four-front battle that our workers must lead. We must reshape public opinion through sound strategy and lay the foundation for real social change.”
