ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from action against former senator Farhatullah Babar in a petition filed by him.
Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas heard the case filed by Farhatullah Babar against the FIA.
During the hearing, the lawyer said that the petitioner is being repeatedly issued vague and illegal notices and summons.
The FIA’s inquiry was initiated on March 25, on the complaint of a citizen whom the petitioner does not know.
The citizen has accused the petitioner of “suspected corruption, tax evasion and acquisition of illegal assets”.
Farhatullah Babar appeared before the FIA on March 28, but he was not provided with any copy of the complaint.
On April 11, 2025, he was sent a 12-point questionnaire via WhatsApp.
It said that interestingly, the notice said that the answers should be submitted by April 7, four days ago.
The court adjourned the hearing until the last week of June. The Ministry of Interior, FIA and others have been made parties in the petition.
