CM lauds services of outgoing USAID mission director
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday held a farewell meeting with the outgoing mission director of USAID in Pakistan, Veeraya Kate Somvongsiri.
The meeting held at the CM House was also attended by Sindh Planning and Development Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Chairman Planning & Development Board Sindh Najam Shah and Secretary to CM Zaman Narejo. The meeting was also attended by US Consul General in Karachi Scott Urbom.
The CM praised the services of USAID’s mission director for the people of Pakistan in general and the residents of Sindh in particular. The meeting took into consideration different welfare programmes jointly being run by the Sindh government and USAID.
The two sides discussed in detail the Maternal and Child Health Integrated Programme (MCHIP). The CM told the US officials that the Sindh government had been spending its due share of finances for this project.
The MCHIP has been operational in 15 districts of the province to ensure the health, survival, and well-being of the newly born children and their mothers from the underprivileged communities.
He told the delegation that a new project was being launched aimed at supplying clean potable water, improving sanitation conditions, and better healthcare facilities for the people of Sindh. The project will be launched in partnership with the World Bank.
Shah said the new project would help accelerate the rehabilitation drive for the flood victims in Sindh. The USAID mission director thanked the CM for extending cooperation to her to better serve the people of Sindh during her stint in Pakistan.
