Militants, positioned among bushes and sand mounds, were neutralised after brief gunfight

LAHORE: Punjab Police killed four suspected militants linked to a banned Khawarij group during a fierce exchange of fire in Kot Mubarak area on Sunday.

According to a police spokesperson, the operation was launched following intelligence reports of militant activity near the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. Heavily armed suspects opened fire as police surrounded the area, prompting a swift retaliatory response.

The militants, positioned among bushes and sand mounds, were neutralised after a brief gunfight. Several others fled the scene. Authorities recovered weapons and ammunition from the site, and a search operation was underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif lauded the Punjab police for the successful action against the Fitna-e-Khwaraz in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Prime Minister eulogized the professionalism of the Punjab police officers and officers in the operation against the terrorists.

He said, “The entire nation is united in the fight against terrorism.” He said that the war against terrorism will continue till its complete elimination.

He said that the timely action of the Punjab police thwarted the nefarious designs of the terrorists. He said that the law enforcement agencies of Pakistan have presented innumerable sacrifices in fight against the menace of terrorism.
