Karachi heatwave

I am writing to express my concern about the ongoing heatwave in Karachi, which has become a serious threat to public health and daily life. The temperature has risen above 40C and the city is struggling to cope. This extreme heat is causing many problems for people, especially those who are vulnerable, like children, elderly citizens and outdoor workers. Due to this harsh weather, many people are suffering from heatstroke and dehydration. Power outages during the hottest hours of the day are making life even more difficult. In some areas, the water supply is also poor, which increases the risk of illness. Schools without proper cooling are unsafe for students, and homes without electricity are unbearable for families.

I strongly urge the authorities to take immediate action. There should be an uninterrupted power supply, especially during the daytime. The government should also set up cooling centres in public places such as parks, mosques and schools and clean drinking water should be made available in all neighbourhoods. Awareness campaigns through TV, radio and social media are also needed to guide people on protecting themselves from the heat.
