Martyred cop laid to rest

WANA: The additional station house officer (SHO), who had embraced martyrdom in a tragic shooting incident a day earlier, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in South Waziristan on Friday.

A large number of people, including high-ranking officials and members of the local community, attended his funeral prayers. Among those present were Commandant South Waziristan Scouts Colonel Mohammad Tahir Khan, Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan (Lower) Nasir Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Khankhel, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pir Khalid, Assistant Commissioner Wana, tribal elders, and hundreds of police personnel.

Addressing the gathering, Commandant Mohammad Tahir Khan paid tribute to the slain officer, Mehmood Khan Wazir, describing him as a courageous and dedicated member of the force. “Additional SHO Mehmood Khan was a brave soul who upheld his duty with honor. His sacrifice will not be forgotten. Such cowardly attacks will never deter our resolve in the fight against terrorism,” he remarked.

District Police Officer Khan Khel called the loss of SHO Mehmood Khan an irreparable one. “He was a talented and fearless officer who always put public safety first. We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice without delay,” he added.As a mark of respect, floral wreaths were laid on the martyr’s coffin by senior officials.
