ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee of National Assembly on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has expressed annoyance over absence of the PIA chief executive officer in its consecutive meetings and directed that his attendance be ensured at the forthcoming meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Muhammad Afzal at Parliament House here on Thursday. The committee considered the privilege motion moved by Abdul Qadir Patel, MNA, against PIA officials. It showed displeasure over the absence of the CEO. Upon request, the committee disposed of the Privilege Motion moved by Fateh Ullah Khan, MNA against an official of the Punjab Police. Regarding the Privilege Motion moved by Sabheen Ghouri, MNA, against the Islamabad Police, the committee asked the mover to attend the inquiry proceedings initiated by the Islamabad Police to identify the officials involved in usage of abusive language against her.

The committee also shown displeasure over the absence of the Member (Engineering), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and directed that the Member (Engineering) and the Member (Finance) must ensure their attendance at the next meeting. The committee decided to defer the agenda regarding the amendments moved by Syed Rafiullah, MNA, to Rule 2, 247, 43 sub-rule (4) and insertion of 39B of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 due to non-availability of the mover.
