SUKKUR: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, said on Sunday that the FIR of Benazir Bhutto’s murder case had been filed against a general which will not be withdrawn come what may.
The former president, along with his daughter, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, visited the Bhutto mausoleum where he offered Fateha at the grave of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. He also visited the graves of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and other Bhutto family members and offered Fateha and laid floral wreaths at their graves.
Addressing the people gathered on the occasion, Zardari said all Benazir’s killers except Pervez Musharraf had been killed. He said that Benazir Bhutto in her life had warned that Musharraf wanted to kill her. “BB herself got registered the FIR; neither me nor anybody else lodged the case,” he said, adding that the Mohtarma had said Musharraf would be responsible if anything happened to her.“We cannot withdraw the FIR, no matter how much pressure you exert on us or how much you fight for that,” said Zardari.
Zardari expressed the resolve to continue his efforts for the supremacy of law and democracy in Pakistan where all the decisions should be taken on the basis of ballot paper instead of bullet. He said that unity among civil and military leadership had achieved success against terrorism. He said Benazir Bhutto had brought the missile technology to Pakistan while her martyred father had launched Pakistan’s nuclear programme.
Meanwhile, the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid tributes to Benazir Bhutto on her 62nd birthday anniversary and pledged to accomplish her mission for a democratic and an egalitarian Pakistan. “She lived and died for her people and her country. Her father Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto launched the nation’s nuclear programme and she brought the missile technology to Pakistan to make our defence invincible,” Bilawal said. Bilawal said Jiyalas had a special place in her heart and he would continue to rely on them to carry forward the mission of Benazir Bhutto.
