LAHORE : Shad Bagh police arrested a man accused of murdering his sister and attempting to stage the crime scene as a suicide. Initial reports indicated that the woman had taken her own life by slitting her wrist, prompting police to arrive at the scene and take the body into custody. However, police officials noticed visible signs of violence on the victim’s face and neck. On questioning, the victim’s brother—initially treated as a witness—soon confessed to the crime.

According to investigators, the suspect admitted to killing his sister over the suspicion that she had stolen money from a cupboard in their home. In an attempt to disguise the murder, the suspect allegedly cut his own nails to eliminate scratch marks and then cut his sister’s wrist to simulate suicide. Police registered a case and shifted the body to the morgue.

Commits suicide

A 37-year-old man allegedly took his own life by shooting himself in the head at his office in the Gulberg area, reportedly after suffering heavy financial losses in business.

The deceased was identified as Hassan Maqsood, a resident of DHA Phase III.

According to police, the incident occurred inside his office where the sound of gunfire prompted nearby office staff to alert emergency services. Rescue teams and law enforcement officials reached the scene and shifted the body to the morgue. Investigators collected forensic evidence, including the pistol and shells from the crime scene. While initial findings suggest suicide, police say multiple aspects are being examined. Statements from family members and close associates of the deceased are also being recorded as part of the investigation.
