Two robbers killed by police, citizen in separate incidents
In separate incidents on Monday, two suspected robbers were killed — one by a citizen during a robbery attempt, and another in a police encounter. According to the Ferozabad police, a robber was shot dead by a citizen after a mugging incident near the Naheed Supermarket on Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
Following the incident, police and rescuers reached the scene. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and later moved to a morgue for want of identification. Police said the incident took place when three robbers had robbed some citizens outside the store and were attempting to flee on a motorcycle when a car driver, identified as Anas, pursued them and shot them from behind at a short distance.
The gunfire struck the robber sitting on the rear seat of the motorcycle, killing him on the spot. The deceased suspect was identified as 27-year-old Irfan. Police said they were looking for his fleeing companions.
In another incident, an exchange of fire took place between police and robbers near the Shershah Bridge within the limits of the Site B Section police station. Police intercepted two robbers. One of them was identified as Bilal, son of Noor Islam, who was shot dead during the encounter. The other suspect, Arshad, was arrested. Police recovered a pistol, live rounds and a motorcycle from the suspects’ possession. The body of the killed suspect was shifted to a hospital.
