LAHORE:In a significant development, in view of road safety, enforcement of law on highways, and protection of citizens’ lives and properties, Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) is being connected to the modern monitoring system of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on the directions of IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar.
PHP DIG Dr Athar Waheed said that through this surveillance system, road safety campaigns, enforcement of law on Punjab’s highways, and protection of citizens’ lives and properties will be ensured.
Punjab Police spokesperson shared that all PHP posts will be connected with the respective district Safe Cities Authorities. A total of 39 PHP personnel have been deployed in the offices of Punjab Safe Cities Authority across 13 districts. The personnel will perform duties round the clock in three shifts.
PHP DIG said that timely reporting of accidents and crimes occurring on highways will be ensured, while in the next phase, modern cameras will be installed at PHP posts across the province for highway coverage. This initiative will help in monitoring traffic on highways. He further said that with the help of this integrated system, e-challans will be issued to vehicles violating laws.
