172 senior officers waiting for postings for two weeks
Due to non-issuance of notification, frustration is growing among these officers
ISLAMABAD: Grade-19 and 20 officers of three main service groups have been waiting for promotion and posting for two weeks.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved promotion of 172 officers of Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service and Secretariat Group on the recommendation of Central Selection Board (CSB) on May 13.
The Establishment Division sent the posting plan to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the same day for approval. The PMO has not yet approved the posting plan. Due to non-approval of the posting plan, notification of promotion of these officers could not be issued.
Due to non-issuance of notification, frustration is growing among these officers. They will join the post only after their posting in the next grade. Interestingly, notification of promotion of all officers of other services that the CSB had approved has been issued.
This is the first time in the history of civil service notifications of most powerful service groups have been delayed. One of the reasons for the delay is that Establishment Division wants to send those officers to Balochistan who have not served in the province till now.
The officers are lobbying to avoid appointment in Balochistan.
According to sources, 13 officers of Pakistan Administrative Service have been promoted to Grade-21 and 60 to Grade-20.
A total of 17 officers of Police Service of Pakistan have been promoted to Grade-21 and 32 to Grade-20. Thirteen officers of Secretariat Group have been elevated to Grade-21 and 30 to Grade-20.
