PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department and the University of Cambridge signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for enhancing teachers training, assessment and early childhood education programmes.
An official handout said that a delegation led by KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Faisal Tarakai has signed an MoU with the University of Cambridge regarding teachers training, assessment, curriculum and early childhood education programmes.
Cambridge University press and assessments Chief Executive Officer Rod Smith, and from the Pakistani side Secretary Education Masood Ahmad and Education Advisor Mian Saaduddin were present.
The Pakistani delegation is currently attending the World Education Forum in London wherein they visited the University of Cambridge.
They reviewed the teachers training and other educational programmes and facilities and received a detailed briefing about the university.
Education Minister Faisal Tarakai on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department signed the MoU aimed at enhancing teachers training, students assessment and the promotion of early childhood education in the province.
Under the MoU, the University of Cambridge would provide technical assistance in training teachers and supporting other educational initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Education Department would benefit from Cambridge’s expertise to bring innovation to the province’s education system.
Faisal Tarakai said that the Education Department was committed to equipping teachers with modern skills and adopting advanced assessment methods for students, drawing on Cambridge’s experience.
He emphasized that early childhood education, which was considered the backbone of the education system, would be further strengthened to ensure students perform well at national and international level.
