Tablighi Ijtema in Baffa Over 1,500 cops to provide security

MANSEHRA: Over 1,500 police personnel would be deployed at the three-day Tablighi Ijtema being held in the Baffa area of the district by May 23.

“We are going to deploy over 1,500 police personnel for the security of Tablighi Ijtema along with 400 volunteers,” Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, the district police officer, told reporters during his visit to the Tablighi Ijtema venue in Baffa on Wednesday.

The DPO, along with Deputy Commissioner Khalid Iqbal, visited the tented village where Ijtema would be held and reviewed the security and other arrangements.

They also met with organisers and discussed in detail security and other arrangements.

“I have directed that police wardens wouldn’t fine vehicles of the faithful coming here from across Hazara, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu Kashmir and the rest of the country,” Gandapur said.

He said that the police were expecting a heavy influx of people to attend that three-day event and the police department was making all-out efforts to provide them with foolproof security.Meanwhile, a meeting to review the preparations of the Tablighi Ijtema was held with Deputy Commissioner Khalid Iqbal in the chair at his office.

The heads and representatives of devolved departments showed up in the meeting.“We have been expecting the arrival of a record crowd to this Tablighi Ijtema, and officials of health and other departments would regularly perform duties at its venue,” Iqbal said.
